<p>The article is devoted to a linguoculturological analysis of the image of the Motherland in the Russian and English linguistic worldviews. The relevance of the study is due to migration processes, globalization, and the growth of national self‑awareness in the 21st century, as well as the active use of this image in political communication, media discourse, and mass culture. The aim of the study is to identify the linguoculturological specifics of the image of the Motherland in the Russian and English linguistic worldviews. The material used included data from explanatory and associative dictionaries, the paremiological fund, works of Russian poetry, poster art, and modern media discourse. It has been established that in both linguistic cultures, the very possibility of metaphorically comparing the Motherland to a maternal principle – based on the archetypal connection between land, fertility, and care – is universal, while national-specific differences turn out to be more significant. In Russian linguoculture, the metaphor «Motherland» dominates; it is characterized by high frequency and emotional intensity, is embedded in paremiology, literature, and visual culture, and is realized through a number of interrelated roles – that of a nurturing mother, a protector, a sufferer, and a judge, forming the triad «land – mother – Motherland». In English linguoculture, the concept of Motherland is expressed primarily through the lexeme «country», and patriotic feelings are conveyed through idioms related to home, heart, and duty. The lexeme «motherland» is marked as «formal», often carries a connotation of detachment or irony, and can acquire negative connotations. An asymmetry in metaphorical density has been identified: in Russian, the image permeates all levels of language, while in English it is primarily localized in the formal-rhetorical register. It has been concluded that the differences reflect deep-seated cultural values: collective belonging, kinship, and the sacralization of land in Russian culture, and personal freedom, individual choice, and civic identity in English speaking culture.</p>
<kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>образ</kwd><kwd>мать</kwd><kwd>Родина</kwd><kwd>языковая картина мира</kwd><kwd>лингвокультурология</kwd><kwd>лингвокультурологический анализ</kwd><kwd>национальная идентичность</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>image</kwd><kwd>mother</kwd><kwd>Motherland</kwd><kwd>picture of the world</kwd><kwd>linguoculturology</kwd><kwd>linguoculturological analysis</kwd><kwd>national identity</kwd></kwd-group><funding-group xml:lang="ru"><funding-statement /></funding-group><funding-group xml:lang="en"><funding-statement /></funding-group></article-meta></front><body /><back><ref-list /></back></article>
